Metrocom Cloud Public Lecture Day – at UKI Toraja

On February 3, 2024, at the campus III of Universitas Kristen Indonesia (UKI Toraja), PT Metrocom Global Solusi held a public lecture on the theme of "Cloud Sovereignty and Cyber Security Solution." The event was attended by hundreds of students from various majors, professors, and university leaders from Universitas Kristen Indonesia. The lecture aimed to delve into the complexities of cloud sovereignty and address the evolving challenges of cyber security in the modern digital landscape. Participants engaged in insightful discussions and gained valuable insights into safeguarding digital assets and ensuring the sovereignty of cloud data.

In this public lecture, Mr. Refendi M.T Panggabean, the Director of Technical and Delivery at PT Metrocom Global Solusi, commenced by presenting the Company Profile of PT Metrocom Global Solusi, alongside explaining the rationale behind Metrocom's choice of UKI Toraja as the venue for its inaugural public lecture. He emphasized that PT Metrocom Global Solusi (MGS) doesn't solely prioritize business ventures but also dedicates a significant portion to community service, particularly in the field of education. Conducting a public lecture at UKI Toraja is seen as a concrete step towards realizing this commitment. Furthermore, UKI Toraja was selected because one of the founders of PT Metrocom Global Solusi is a distinguished figure from Toraja, Mr. Roberto Blasius Sangka’, affectionately known as Mr. Bobby Sangka’.

Following the introduction of the company profile, the event proceeded with two engaging lecture sessions. The first session, titled "The Cloud Sovereignty Journey," was expertly delivered by Mr. Ibrohim Sarif, Solution Architect at Metrocomcloud. Attendees gained valuable insights into navigating the intricate landscape of cloud sovereignty. The second session, led by Mr. James Hendrik, IT Security Presales at Metrocom Global Solusi, delved into the critical topics of Endpoint Security and Database Security. Through these informative lectures, participants were equipped with essential knowledge and strategies to address contemporary challenges in cybersecurity and cloud management.

Not only did the event feature a public lecture, but it also included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for collaboration between PT Metrocom Global Solusi, represented by Mr. Refendi MT Panggabean, and UKI Toraja, represented by Mr Pdt. Hans Lura, S.Th, M.Si. In this partnership, PT Metrocom Global Solusi (MGS) will assist UKI Toraja in technology management, security systems, and provide free certified IT training for faculty and students, both offline and online. Additionally, the collaboration entails internship opportunities, along with other activities aimed at enhancing the quality of student development processes.

It is hoped that this public lecture event will inspire the youth of Toraja, especially the students of UKI Toraja, to continue developing their knowledge in the field of IT, thereby preparing them to enter the IT workforce. By engaging with the insightful discussions and valuable information shared during the lecture, students can gain a deeper understanding of the industry's intricacies and be better equipped to navigate the challenges of the IT field. This encouragement to pursue IT knowledge aims to empower students to pursue careers in IT confidently and contribute meaningfully to the industry's advancements.
